How to use it
- Read the live status above. It tests Hulu from outside your network.
- Open the official Hulu Help Center (no public status page) page for confirmed incidents.
- If Hulu is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
- Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.
Is Hulu down for everyone or only for you?
Hulu is a streaming app that runs on many different devices: smart TVs, Roku, Fire TV, game consoles, phones and web browsers. Each one has its own Hulu app, and each app talks to the same account and video services. A problem can sit in your account, in the video stream, or in one specific app version, so one person may watch fine while another sees an error.
Our check requests the Hulu website from outside your network. If it answers, Hulu is reachable and the cause is more likely your device, your connection, or a single app build. Hulu does not publish a public status page, so a live check and the help center are the best signals available.
The live check on this page requests www.hulu.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Hulu works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.
What usually breaks with Hulu
Login and profile loading
The app opens but stays on the logo, loops back to the login screen, or fails to show the profile picker. This points to the account or sign-in service rather than video.
Playback errors
Shows start and then stop, or an error code appears on a TV or streaming stick. The video delivery side or the device app is usually involved.
Buffering and low quality
The picture drops to a blur or freezes. This is mostly the path between the video servers and your home network.
Live TV and guide
If you have Live TV, the channel guide or a live channel can fail while on-demand shows work fine, because live streams use a separate feed.
Casting and TV apps
Casting from a phone fails or the TV app shows an old screen, often because the app needs an update or a restart.
How to fix Hulu when it only fails for you
Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.
- Force close the Hulu app. On a phone, swipe the app away and open it again. On a smart TV or Roku, exit to the home screen first, then relaunch Hulu.
- Restart the streaming device. Unplug a Roku, Fire TV or Apple TV for 30 seconds and plug it back in. On a smart TV, power it off at the wall rather than using standby.
- Test another device. Open hulu.com in a browser or use the phone app. If it works there, the problem is the TV app, not your account.
- Update or reinstall the app. Check the app store on your device for a Hulu update. If it is current, delete the app and install it again, then sign in.
- Check other devices on the account. Hulu limits how many screens can stream at once. Stop playback on other devices, wait a minute and try again.
- Restart the modem and router. Unplug both for a full minute. Streaming apps fail quietly when the router has a stale connection.
- Try mobile data. Switch a phone from Wi-Fi to mobile data. If Hulu loads, your home network is the weak point.
- Check the HDMI cable and TV settings. If you see a copy protection message, reseat the HDMI cable and try a different port on the TV.
If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.
Common Hulu error messages
| Message or code | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| P-DEV320 | Users report this code on Roku and other devices, and community guides tie it to the internet connection or the Hulu app. We could not find a Hulu help article that explains it. | Restart the device and router, update the app, and reinstall it on Roku by removing and re-adding the channel. |
| Playback fails with any code | Hulu shows different codes for different devices, and the official help center has the current meaning for each one. | Note the exact code and device model, then search it at help.hulu.com or contact Hulu support. |
| Stuck loading after login | The app signed in but cannot fetch your profile or home screen. | Sign out and back in, then force close and reopen the app. |
Official Hulu status and support
The company itself has the final word on outages. Check Hulu Help Center (no public status page) for confirmed incidents and use Hulu Help Center if your account has a problem that is not an outage. We are not affiliated with Hulu.
Facts and menu names on this page were checked against the official sources below on October 28, 2026. Apps change their menus, so a setting may sit in a slightly different place in your version.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if Hulu is down or if it is just me?
Run the live check at the top of this page. If Hulu answers from our server but not on your TV, test the phone app on mobile data. If that works, the problem is your home network or the TV app.
Does Hulu have a status page?
Hulu does not publish a public status page. The Hulu Help Center at help.hulu.com is the official place for service notices, and live support is available there.
Why does Hulu work on my phone but not my TV?
The TV app is a separate build. It may need an update, a restart or a reinstall. Power cycle the TV or streaming stick first.
Is Hulu down only for Live TV?
It can be. Live channels use separate feeds from on-demand shows, so one can fail while the other plays normally.
Can a VPN cause Hulu errors?
Yes. Hulu limits some content by location and may refuse traffic from VPN addresses. Turn the VPN off and test again.
