How to use it
- Read the live status above. It tests Disney+ from outside your network.
- Open the official Disney+ Help Center (no public status page) page for confirmed incidents.
- If Disney+ is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
- Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.
Is Disney+ down for everyone or only for you?
Disney+ has an account side and a video side. The account side handles login, profiles and your subscription. The video side delivers the stream to your device. Your device app sits between the two, and each platform has its own build: smart TV, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, game console, iPhone, Android and web.
Our check requests the Disney+ website from outside your network. If it answers, the service is reachable. Disney+ does not offer a public status page, so the help center and its error code articles are the official reference.
The live check on this page requests www.disneyplus.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Disney+ works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.
What usually breaks with Disney+
Login and profile screen
The app opens to a spinner, bounces you back to sign in, or never shows your profiles. The account service is the likely area.
Playback fails on a title
One show will not start while others play. This can be a title level problem or a device check on the stream.
Connection errors
The app says it cannot connect to the internet while other apps work. The error often appears after a router change or a stale session.
Region and account limits
A title is blocked because of location or the account. Disney+ lists this as an error in its help center.
Bundle and add-on access
Hulu or ESPN content from a bundle fails to appear until the accounts are linked correctly.
How to fix Disney+ when it only fails for you
Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.
- Close and reopen the app. On a TV go back to the home screen, then launch Disney+ again. On a phone, swipe the app away first.
- Restart the device. Unplug a streaming stick or console for 30 seconds. On a smart TV, switch it off at the wall.
- Sign out and back in. Open Settings in the app, sign out, then sign in again. This renews a stale session.
- Check the connection. Run another streaming app. If everything buffers, restart the modem and router for a full minute.
- Update or reinstall the app. Check the app store for a Disney+ update. If it is current, delete the app and install it fresh.
- Check the HDMI cable. A loose or old HDMI cable can break the copy protection check and stop playback. Reseat it or use another port.
- Test the web version. Open disneyplus.com in a current browser. If it plays there, the problem is your device app.
- Turn off the VPN. Disney+ ties many titles to location. A VPN can trigger a region error, so disconnect it and try again.
If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.
Common Disney+ error messages
| Message or code | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Error 83 | Disney+ shows 'Something went wrong. Please try again' when the app or website cannot play or load content. | Retry, restart the device, update the app and test another network. |
| Error 42 | The app says it is having trouble connecting to your internet. | Check the network, restart the router and test with mobile data. |
| Error 39 | Disney+ shows that the content is not authorized for your account, often tied to location or account settings. | Check your account and region, turn off any VPN and contact Disney+ if it stays. |

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if Disney+ is down or if it is just me?
Run the live check on this page. If the site answers but your TV fails, open the web version or the phone app. If it works there, the problem is the TV app or network.
Does Disney+ have a status page?
Disney+ does not publish a public status page. The Disney+ Help Center is the official place to read about error codes and contact support.
What does Error 83 mean?
It is a general failure message: Something went wrong, please try again. Restart the app and device, and update the app before trying again.
Why does Disney+ say I cannot connect when my internet works?
Error 42 means the app could not reach Disney+ servers. A router restart, a different DNS server or turning off a VPN often helps.
Is Disney+ down for just one show?
It can be. If only one title fails, try another title and the web version, then report it to support with the title name.
