Is PlayStation Network Down?

PSN sign-in failing, online games not connecting or the PlayStation Store empty? The live check shows whether PlayStation answers, and the fixes cover the console and network problems behind common error codes.

Checking PlayStation Network…

Reading the latest result from our servers.

We test www.playstation.com and my.playstation.com from our servers. This shows whether the public addresses answer, not what happens inside the app.

Tell us if PlayStation Network does not work for you. One report per visitor every 10 minutes.

Checks run on our servers. We do not keep a list of the addresses you check.

How to use it

  1. Read the live status above. It tests PlayStation Network from outside your network.
  2. Open the official PlayStation Service Status page for confirmed incidents.
  3. If PlayStation Network is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
  4. Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.

Is PlayStation Network down for everyone or only for you?

PlayStation Network is a set of services: account sign-in, the PlayStation Store, online multiplayer, messaging and cloud features. Each can have trouble separately. Many games also use their own game servers on top of PSN, so a game may be offline while PSN itself is up. PlayStation's service status page shows the state of these services.

Our check requests the PlayStation website and account site from outside your network. If both answer and the official status page shows no outage, your console or home network is the likely cause. Error codes like WS-37397-9 may also point to a blocked IP address.

The live check on this page requests www.playstation.com and my.playstation.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside PlayStation Network works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.

What usually breaks with PlayStation Network

Sign-in

The console cannot sign in to PSN and may show a code such as CE-33987-0 or NP-103028-4.

Store and downloads

The PlayStation Store will not load or downloads stall. Store and download servers are separate from account sign-in.

Online multiplayer

Games cannot find matches or drop you. This can be PSN, the game's own servers or your NAT.

Party chat and messages

Voice chat fails or messages do not arrive. Messaging runs apart from the store.

Account and 2-step

Verification codes fail or sign-in asks again. PlayStation has pages for 2-step verification issues.

How to fix PlayStation Network when it only fails for you

Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.

  1. Check the PlayStation status page. Open status.playstation.com first. PlayStation's own steps for WS-37397-9 begin with this check.
  2. Test the connection. On PS5 open Settings, Network, Connection Status, Test Internet Connection. On PS4 use Settings, Network, Test Internet Connection.
  3. Restart modem and router. Power off both, wait about a minute and power on. PlayStation advises this for timeout errors like CE-33987-0.
  4. Sign out and back in. For NP-102937-2 you are signed out. Sign out of PSN and sign back in. Restart the router if needed.
  5. Check your sign-in ID and password. WS-116329-2 means the details do not match. The password is case sensitive. Test on a PC. Use official recovery only.
  6. Scan the home network. If WS-37397-9 persists with no outage, PlayStation says scan every device on your network for viruses.
  7. Contact your ISP. For a blocked IP address PlayStation says it has sent details to your ISP. Once resolved the block lifts automatically.
  8. Look up the exact code. Search your code on the PlayStation error codes page for PS5 or PS4 and follow the steps listed.

If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.
