How to use it
- Read the live status above. It tests Call of Duty from outside your network.
- Open the official Activision Online Services page for confirmed incidents.
- If Call of Duty is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
- Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.
Is Call of Duty down for everyone or only for you?
Call of Duty online play rests on two layers. Activision runs the game's own services, and your platform runs its network: PlayStation Network, Xbox network, Battle.net or Steam. Activision's Online Services page shows server status by network for Xbox, PSN, Battle.net, Nintendo, Steam, Epic Games and Ubisoft+. If your platform's indicator is not green, expect connection trouble.
Our check requests the Call of Duty website from outside your network. That tells you about Activision's web side only. For the game servers of a specific title, use the Online Services page and choose your game and platform.
The live check on this page requests www.callofduty.com and support.activision.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Call of Duty works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.
What usually breaks with Call of Duty
Cannot connect to online play
Activision says to check the server status for your game first. If your platform's indicator is not green or an alert is posted, the problem is not on your side.
Platform network
PlayStation Network or the Xbox network is the failing layer. The game cannot fix that.
Lag and disconnects
Matches stutter or end. Wi-Fi, bandwidth use and router settings are the usual causes.
PC launcher and files
On Battle.net or Steam the game files can be damaged after a failed update. Activision recommends scan and repair on Battle.net and verify integrity on Steam.
Retired titles
Some older games and modes have shut down, and their servers are gone. Check the game on the Online Services page.
How to fix Call of Duty when it only fails for you
Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.
- Check Online Services. Open support.activision.com/onlineservices, pick your game and read the indicator for your platform.
- Use a wired connection. Activision strongly recommends Ethernet over Wi-Fi for testing.
- PlayStation network test. Go to Settings, Network, Test Internet Connection.
- Xbox network test. Press the Xbox button, then Profile & system, Settings, General, Network settings, Test network connection. For lag use Test multiplayer connection.
- Try UPnP. In the router, turn off port forwarding and enable Universal Plug and Play, then test the game.
- Try port forwarding. Turn UPnP off, assign your console a static IP address and set up port forwarding. On consoles, DMZ is a last test, and remove the address from DMZ afterward.
- PC: scan and repair. On Battle.net use the game's scan and repair. On Steam, verify the integrity of game files from the game's properties.
- Restart router and pause downloads. Restart the router and stop streaming or large downloads during the test.
If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I see Call of Duty server status?
Activision's Online Services page, at support.activision.com/onlineservices, shows status by game and by network.
Why does the game work for friends but not me?
Your router, Wi-Fi or console network is the likely cause. Test with Ethernet and run the network test on the console.
Is it the game or PlayStation or Xbox?
The status page shows each network. A platform problem needs the platform company to fix it.
Should I use port forwarding?
Only as a test. Activision lists UPnP first, then port forwarding with a static IP, then DMZ on consoles. Undo what you try if it does not help.
Who do I contact?
Use Activision Support at support.activision.com.
