Is Overwatch 2 Down?

Overwatch 2 will not log in, drops you from queue or shows a BN error on console? The live check shows whether Blizzard's public sites answer, and the fixes cover Battle.net and console linking.

Checking Overwatch 2…

Reading the latest result from our servers.

We test overwatch.blizzard.com and www.blizzard.com from our servers. This shows whether the public addresses answer, not what happens inside the app.

Checks run on our servers. We do not keep a list of the addresses you check.

How to use it

  1. Read the live status above. It tests Overwatch 2 from outside your network.
  2. Open the official Overwatch 2 Technical Troubleshooting (Blizzard Support) page for confirmed incidents.
  3. If Overwatch 2 is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
  4. Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.

Is Overwatch 2 down for everyone or only for you?

Overwatch 2 runs through Battle.net accounts, even on consoles. Every platform signs you in with your Battle.net login, which is linked to your Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or Steam profile. That linking step is a frequent failure point. After sign-in, the game uses Blizzard's matchmaking and then connects you to a game server for the match.

Our check requests the Overwatch and Blizzard websites from outside your network. It cannot see login or matchmaking, which sit behind Battle.net sign-in. Blizzard's support articles say that when servers are in maintenance, login errors such as BN-564 can appear, and they point players to Blizzard's official support channels for status.

The live check on this page requests overwatch.blizzard.com and www.blizzard.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Overwatch 2 works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.

What usually breaks with Overwatch 2

Battle.net login

The game says it could not log you in. This depends on Blizzard's account services and on the platform link.

Console linking

Console players see BN errors even though the account is fine. The link between Battle.net and the console profile is often to blame.

Queue and matchmaking

Queues never start or you are sent back to the menu. This is a server-side or regional matter.

Disconnects in match

A match ends with a disconnect from the game server. The network route and Wi-Fi quality are the usual causes.

Steam launch

The game opens but login fails when started from Steam. The Steam and Battle.net link needs to be intact.

How to fix Overwatch 2 when it only fails for you

Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.

  1. Check Blizzard's status channels. Blizzard's article on BN-564 tells players to check Blizzard Customer Support's official account on X for server status and maintenance news.
  2. Unlink and relink the console. On a console, sign in at account.battle.net, open Security and Privacy, then Connected Accounts, unlink your console profile, restart the game and link again.
  3. Restart the game fully. Close Overwatch 2 from the console home menu or from Task Manager on PC, then reopen it. Do the same for Battle.net.
  4. Launch from Battle.net first. On PC, open the Battle.net app, sign in, then start Overwatch 2 so your session is valid before the game launches.
  5. Power cycle your console. Hold the console power button, switch it off fully, wait a minute and start it again. This clears temporary network data.
  6. Restart the router. Unplug the router for a minute. Use Ethernet if possible for a more stable connection to game servers.
  7. Scan and repair on PC. In the Battle.net app select Overwatch 2, click the gear icon, then Scan and Repair.
  8. Check your platform subscription. Console online play needs an active subscription on the platform such as PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Switch Online for some modes.

If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if Overwatch 2 is down?

Check the live result and Blizzard's official support account on X. If many players report the same BN code at once, it is likely a server matter.

Why do I get BN errors only on console?

Consoles log in through a linked Battle.net account. If that link or the servers fail, BN codes appear while the PC version may work.

Will unlinking my console delete my progress?

Progress is tied to your Battle.net account. Unlinking and relinking is a documented step from Blizzard for some errors. Use your own account and never share your login.

Is there an Overwatch status page?

I could not confirm a dedicated status page. Blizzard's support site and its official support account on X are the sources it points to.

Does my VPN or firewall matter?

Network tools can block game traffic. Disable them briefly to test and allow Overwatch and Battle.net through your firewall.
