Is Marvel Rivals down for everyone or only for you?
Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play hero shooter from NetEase that runs on Windows through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the NetEase launcher, and on PlayStation and Xbox. Your sign-in and downloads go through the platform you play on, while matches run on NetEase's game servers. A store or platform problem can stop the game from starting even when the servers are fine, and the reverse is also true.
Our check requests the official Marvel Rivals website from outside your network. NetEase does not run a public status page for the game. Maintenance and outage notices are posted in the news section of the official site and on the official X account and Discord server, so check those when the website answers but matches still fail.
The live check on this page requests www.marvelrivals.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Marvel Rivals works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.
What usually breaks with Marvel Rivals
Game will not start
The client closes at launch or shows a DirectX message. On PC this is usually a driver, Windows version or security software problem, not a server outage.
Stuck after loading into a match
The game loads the map and then stalls. NetEase lists antivirus or firewall blocking as a common cause.
Cannot reconnect after a disconnect
The game drops and will not rejoin the match. The same firewall and antivirus checks apply.
Frequent crashes
Crashes mid-game often point to damaged game files, shader compilation or GPU driver problems on your PC.
Patch day problems
Some updates ship with no server downtime, but you still need the latest client before you can play online.
How to fix Marvel Rivals when it only fails for you
Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.
- Verify game files on Steam. In your Steam library open the game's properties, go to the Installed Files tab and click Verify Integrity of Game Files. Let Steam download anything missing, then launch again.
- Verify on Epic or the NetEase launcher. In the Epic library right-click MarvelRivals, choose Manage, then Verify. In the NetEase launcher open the options button and choose Verify File Integrity.
- Allow the game through Windows Firewall. Open Windows Defender Firewall, choose Allow an app through the firewall and allow Marvel-Win64-Shipping.exe on private and public networks.
- Add an exception in Windows Security. Open Windows Security, Virus & Threat Protection, Manage Settings, find Controlled Folder Access and add Marvel-Win64-Shipping.exe. Third-party antivirus needs the same exception for the game folder.
- Clean install the graphics driver. Reinstall the latest GPU driver and pick the clean installation option. NetEase recommends this for crashes and stuttering.
- Switch shader compilation mode. In the launcher, enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode to reduce crashes.
- Send a diagnostic report. In the install folder (Steam: right-click the game, Manage, Browse Local Files) run client_diagnose.exe with the game closed, click Analyze, and send the zip file to the team on the official Discord.
If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.
Common Marvel Rivals error messages
| Message or code | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| DirectX 12 is not supported on your system | The game needs DirectX 12, Windows 10 64-bit version 1909 or later and at least a GTX 1060 or RX 580 class graphics card. | Update Windows and your graphics driver, and confirm your GPU meets the minimum. |
| Out of Video Memory | A crash at startup that NetEase links to instability on some Intel 13th and 14th gen processors. | Update your motherboard BIOS and follow the official Intel CPU Crash Troubleshooting Guide. Contact the PC maker or Intel if it continues. |
| Failed to reconnect | The client cannot rejoin a match after a disconnect. Security software misidentifying the game process is a known cause. | Allow Marvel-Win64-Shipping.exe in Windows Firewall and your antivirus, then restart the game. |
| Frequent crashes during gameplay | Missing or corrupted game files, shader compilation or the GPU driver. | Verify files, enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode and clean install the driver. If it continues, collect logs and contact support. |

Frequently asked questions
Does Marvel Rivals have an official server status page?
No. NetEase posts maintenance and update notices in the news section of marvelrivals.com and on the official X account and Discord server. Recent patch notes have said when an update needs no server downtime.
How do I know if Marvel Rivals is down or if it is just me?
Run the live check above, then look at the official news page and X account. If there is no notice and friends can play, the cause is most likely your PC, console, platform account or network.
Can Steam or PlayStation Network problems stop Marvel Rivals?
Yes. You install, update and sign in through your platform. If Steam, Epic, PlayStation Network or Xbox network has trouble, the game may not start or update even when NetEase's servers are fine.
How do I contact Marvel Rivals support?
The official site lists the email address marvel_rivals@global.netease.com, and the technical guides direct players to the official Discord server. Attach the diagnostic zip from client_diagnose.exe for crash reports.
Will verifying files delete my progress?
No. Your heroes, unlocks and rank belong to your account on NetEase's servers. Verifying only replaces missing or damaged files on your device.
