Is TikTok Down?

TikTok feed stuck, videos not playing or uploads failing? The live check tells you whether TikTok's website answers, and the fixes cover problems on your phone or network.

Checking TikTok…

Reading the latest result from our servers.

We test www.tiktok.com from our servers. This shows whether the public addresses answer, not what happens inside the app.

Tell us if TikTok does not work for you. One report per visitor every 10 minutes.

Checks run on our servers. We do not keep a list of the addresses you check.

How to use it

  1. Read the live status above. It tests TikTok from outside your network.
  2. Open the official TikTok Support page for confirmed incidents.
  3. If TikTok is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
  4. Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.

Is TikTok down for everyone or only for you?

TikTok is mainly a phone app, with a website that mirrors parts of it. The For You feed, search, comments, messages, live streams and uploads all run on different services behind the app. A short video feed needs a steady connection, so weak signal looks like an outage even when TikTok is fine.

Our check requests the TikTok website from outside your network. If it answers, the service is reachable and your problem is more likely the app, the cache, your network or a limit on your account. TikTok does not publish a public status page that we could verify.

The live check on this page requests www.tiktok.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside TikTok works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.

What usually breaks with TikTok

Feed will not load

The For You page is blank or shows a retry prompt. This points to a connection or app cache problem more often than a global outage.

Videos stall or buffer

Clips freeze or play at low quality. Video files stream from a delivery network and need steady bandwidth.

Uploads fail

A post sticks on uploading or processing, then fails. Large files and weak mobile data are common causes.

Comments and messages

Comments do not post or direct messages stay unsent. These services can fail while the feed plays.

Login and verification

The code does not arrive or you are signed out repeatedly.

How to fix TikTok when it only fails for you

Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.

  1. Test another network. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Many TikTok errors come from the connection, not the service.
  2. Compare app and website. Open tiktok.com in your phone browser. If videos load there, focus on the app.
  3. Update TikTok. Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
  4. Clear the cache. In TikTok, open Profile, the menu, then Settings and privacy and look for Free up space or Clear cache under Cache & Cellular. Names can vary by version.
  5. Restart the phone. Power it off and on, then reopen the app.
  6. Check storage space. A nearly full phone can fail to save or process videos. Free up space and retry.
  7. Turn off VPN or proxy. Disconnect them. They can break the connection or trigger a location check.
  8. Reinstall the app. Delete and install again. Your videos and account are stored on your account, but save drafts before deleting.

If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

Official TikTok status and support

The company itself has the final word on outages. Check TikTok Support for confirmed incidents and use TikTok Support if your account has a problem that is not an outage. We are not affiliated with TikTok.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if TikTok is down or if it is just me?

Run the live check above. If TikTok answers from our server but not for you, try another network and tiktok.com in a phone browser.

Does TikTok have an official status page?

We could not verify a public status page from TikTok. Its support center is the best official resource.

Why do videos play slowly only on my phone?

Check signal strength, data saver settings and free storage. Streaming video needs steady bandwidth.

Why does the upload fail but I can watch videos?

Uploads use a different path and need more bandwidth. Try Wi-Fi, shorten the video and free up storage.

Is TikTok down in only one region?

It can be if a network or carrier blocks it. Test a different connection to find out.
