How to use it
- Read the live status above. It tests Snapchat from outside your network.
- Open the official Snapchat Support page for confirmed incidents.
- If Snapchat is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
- Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.
Is Snapchat down for everyone or only for you?
Snapchat is mostly a phone app talking to cloud servers. Login lives on a separate accounts service. Chats and Snaps pass through messaging servers, and media like photos, videos and Memories load from storage. If one part slows down you might still log in but see Snaps stuck on sending.
Our check requests the Snapchat website and its accounts login page from outside your network. Snapchat's help center says it posts updates on a system status page during server problems, but we could not load a public status page when we tested, so we point to Snapchat Support instead. If both of our checks answer, the cause is likely your connection or the app.
The live check on this page requests www.snapchat.com and accounts.snapchat.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Snapchat works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.
What usually breaks with Snapchat
Login and verification
Login fails or loops. The accounts service handles this, and wrong saved details or a blocked network are common causes.
Chats and Snaps
Messages show a failed state or Snaps stay on sending. Snapchat links this to weak data or Wi-Fi reception.
Refreshing messages
The chat list shows Could not refresh messages. This means the app is struggling to reach Snapchat's servers.
Memories and media
Memories will not open or load slowly because media is fetched from storage.
Camera and lenses
The camera is black or lenses fail. This is often a device permission or app version issue.
How to fix Snapchat when it only fails for you
Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Snapchat's help advises swapping networks. Turn Wi-Fi off and test on cellular, or the other way round.
- Update Snapchat. Open the App Store or Google Play, find Snapchat and install any update.
- Restart the app and phone. Force close Snapchat, restart your phone and open the app again.
- Check camera permission. On iPhone open Settings, Snapchat and enable Camera, Microphone and Photos. On Android use Settings, Apps, Snapchat, Permissions.
- Clear the cache in the app. Open your profile, tap the gear for Settings, find Clear Cache and confirm. Cache holds temporary files, not your account.
- Turn off Battery Saver. Low power modes can limit background data and delay Snaps. Switch Battery Saver off while testing.
- Report a bug in the app. Snapchat suggests reporting it in the app: open Settings, scroll to Support and Safety, tap Bugs and Suggestions, then Report a Bug.
- Reinstall as a last step. Uninstall Snapchat and install it again. Your friends, Snaps in Memories and account stay with your login.
If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if Snapchat is down or if it is just me?
Use the live check above. If it passes, change from Wi-Fi to cellular on your phone. If Snaps send on cellular, your Wi-Fi is the issue.
Does Snapchat have a status page?
Snapchat says it posts updates on a system status page, but we could not reach one to verify. Snapchat Support is the official place to look.
Why do my Snaps stay on sending?
Usually weak signal or an unstable connection. Switch networks and make sure the app is up to date.
Will I lose Memories if I reinstall?
Memories are tied to your account. Make sure you can log in with your own details before you reinstall.
What if I cannot log in?
Use Snapchat's official account recovery and the help article for login errors. Never share your password or codes with anyone.
