Is Facebook Down?

Facebook feed not loading, login failing or Messenger stuck? The live check tells you whether Facebook's servers answer, and the fixes cover problems with your app, browser or account.

Checking Facebook…

Reading the latest result from our servers.

We test www.facebook.com and graph.facebook.com from our servers. This shows whether the public addresses answer, not what happens inside the app.

Tell us if Facebook does not work for you. One report per visitor every 10 minutes.

Checks run on our servers. We do not keep a list of the addresses you check.

How to use it

  1. Read the live status above. It tests Facebook from outside your network.
  2. Open the official Meta Status (business products) page for confirmed incidents.
  3. If Facebook is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
  4. Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.

Is Facebook down for everyone or only for you?

Facebook runs on the same Meta infrastructure as Instagram and WhatsApp, but each app has its own front end. The website, the mobile app, Messenger and the developer Graph API are different entry points. One can fail while another works. Meta's public status page at metastatus.com covers Meta business products, not the consumer app itself.

Our check requests facebook.com and the Graph API host from outside your network. A bad request reply from the API host is normal without a token and still proves the servers are answering. If both answer, the trouble is probably your session, cache or an account restriction.

The live check on this page requests www.facebook.com and graph.facebook.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Facebook works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.

What usually breaks with Facebook

Feed will not load

The home page is blank, stuck on a spinner or shows an error. This is often the web front end or a local cache problem.

Login and sessions

You are logged out repeatedly, cannot sign in or are asked for a code that does not arrive.

Messenger delays

Messages are slow, stay on sending or do not arrive. Messenger shares accounts with Facebook but is its own service.

Posting, photos and video

Uploads stall or fail while browsing works. Media uploads are heavier than text and can fail first.

Ads Manager and Pages tools

Business tools return errors while the personal feed works. These are tracked on Meta's business status page.

How to fix Facebook when it only fails for you

Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.

  1. Compare web and app. If the app fails, open facebook.com in a browser. If the browser fails, try the app. This separates a client fault from a service fault.
  2. Clear the app cache on Android. Open Settings, Apps, Facebook, Storage and tap Clear cache. On iPhone, delete and reinstall the app.
  3. Clear browser cookies for facebook.com. Use your browser's site settings to delete cookies and site data for facebook.com, then sign in again.
  4. Update the app. Install the latest Facebook and Messenger versions from the App Store or Google Play.
  5. Try a private window. Open facebook.com in a private window with extensions off. Privacy and ad blocking extensions can break page elements.
  6. Turn off VPN or proxy. Unusual locations can trigger security checks or blocks. Disconnect and try again.
  7. Check the Help Center. Open facebook.com/help for account recovery and login problems. Use the official recovery flow only and never share your password.
  8. Check Meta's business status. For Ads Manager or Graph API problems, open metastatus.com to see whether Meta lists an incident.

If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

Common Facebook error messages

Message or codeWhat it meansWhat to do
400 Bad Request (Graph API host, no token)Our check receives this from graph.facebook.com because no access token is sent. It shows the API server is answering.Nothing to fix. Developers should send a valid access token.
502 Bad GatewayA standard HTTP code meaning a server in front got a bad reply from another server.Wait a few minutes and reload.
503 Service UnavailableA standard HTTP code meaning the service cannot handle the request right now.Retry later and check metastatus.com for business tools.

Official Facebook status and support

The company itself has the final word on outages. Check Meta Status (business products) for confirmed incidents and use Facebook Help Center if your account has a problem that is not an outage. We are not affiliated with Facebook.

Facts and menu names on this page were checked against the official sources below on October 25, 2026. Apps change their menus, so a setting may sit in a slightly different place in your version.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if Facebook is down or if it is just me?

Run the live check above. If Facebook answers from our server but not for you, try facebook.com on a phone using mobile data. If it loads there, the issue is your network or device.

Does Facebook have an official status page?

Meta publishes metastatus.com for its business products such as Ads Manager and APIs. We could not verify a public status page for the consumer Facebook app.

Why does Facebook work but Messenger does not?

Messenger is a separate service tied to the same account. Update the Messenger app, clear its cache and try the web version.

Can my account be affected while everyone else is fine?

Yes. Security checks, temporary restrictions and stale sessions can affect one account. Use the official Help Center recovery steps.

Do Facebook and Instagram go down together?

They share Meta infrastructure, so some problems affect both, but each app can also fail alone.
