Is Spotify Down?

Spotify showing Something went wrong, songs grayed out or the web player stuck loading? The live check shows whether Spotify answers from outside your network, and the fixes cover problems that live on your device.

Checking Spotify…

Reading the latest result from our servers.

We test www.spotify.com and open.spotify.com from our servers. This shows whether the public addresses answer, not what happens inside the app.

Tell us if Spotify does not work for you. One report per visitor every 10 minutes.

Checks run on our servers. We do not keep a list of the addresses you check.

How to use it

  1. Read the live status above. It tests Spotify from outside your network.
  2. Open the official Spotify Support, Ongoing issues page for confirmed incidents.
  3. If Spotify is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
  4. Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.

Is Spotify down for everyone or only for you?

Spotify has a few moving parts. The app talks to Spotify's servers for your library, search and recommendations, and it pulls the audio itself from a separate delivery network. Downloaded songs play from your device, which is why offline music can keep working while search and browsing fail.

Our check requests the Spotify website and the web player from outside your network. If both answer, Spotify is reachable and the fault is probably your app version, your cache or your connection. Spotify does not run a classic status page. It points users to its @SpotifyStatus account and the Community Ongoing Issues board instead.

The live check on this page requests www.spotify.com and open.spotify.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Spotify works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.

What usually breaks with Spotify

Login and loading

The app hangs on the logo or home screen shows Page not available. This points at Spotify's servers or at a bad connection.

Playback

Songs skip, stall or show Something went wrong. Audio comes from a delivery network, so this can differ from search and browsing.

Search and library

Playlists will not open or search returns nothing while downloaded songs still play.

Web player

open.spotify.com loads a blank page or refuses to play. Browser extensions, outdated browsers and school or office networks often cause this.

Connect and speakers

A phone cannot see a speaker or TV. This needs both devices on the same network and is not always a Spotify outage.

How to fix Spotify when it only fails for you

Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.

  1. Compare with the web player. Play the same track at open.spotify.com. If it works there, the problem sits in the app on your device.
  2. Restart and update the app. Close Spotify fully, then update it in the App Store, Google Play or Microsoft Store.
  3. Clear the cache. On Android open Settings, Apps, Spotify, Storage and clear cache. On the phone and desktop apps, Spotify also has a Storage section under Settings. Clearing cache keeps your downloads.
  4. Turn offline mode off. Grayed-out tracks often mean Offline mode is on. On mobile tap your profile picture, open Settings and privacy, Data-saving and offline, and switch Offline mode off.
  5. Check the region on your account. If you travel or moved, an account country that does not match your location can make tracks unavailable. Fix it on your account page.
  6. Allow Spotify in the firewall. On desktop, make sure Windows Defender Firewall or your security suite allows Spotify on private and public networks.
  7. Remove the SD card on Android. Spotify's help suggests that a faulty SD card can cause problems. Remove it, restart and test.
  8. Reinstall as a last step. Reinstalling deletes downloads, so you must download songs and podcasts again. Your playlists and account stay in the cloud.

If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

The company itself has the final word on outages. Check Spotify Support, Ongoing issues for confirmed incidents and use Spotify Support if your account has a problem that is not an outage. Updates also appear on @SpotifyStatus on X. We are not affiliated with Spotify.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if Spotify is down or if it is just me?

Use the live check above, then test the web player on another device. If it works there, your first device or its network is the cause.

Where can I see official Spotify outages?

Spotify points users to the @SpotifyStatus account on X and to the Ongoing Issues board in its Community. There is no traditional status page.

Why does Spotify play downloads but not stream?

Downloads live on your device. Streaming needs live servers and a stable connection, so a network or server problem breaks one but not the other.

Is Spotify down in just my country?

Possibly. Regional networks and account country settings affect what loads. Test on mobile data and check the account region.

Does Spotify work on shared networks?

Some school, workplace and public networks restrict streaming services. Spotify's web player help notes this. Try mobile data to confirm.
