Is Reddit Down?

Reddit feed blank, votes not counting or comments failing to post? The live check shows whether Reddit's servers answer, and the fixes cover problems on your device or account.

Checking Reddit…

Reading the latest result from our servers.

We test www.reddit.com and oauth.reddit.com from our servers. This shows whether the public addresses answer, not what happens inside the app.

Tell us if Reddit does not work for you. One report per visitor every 10 minutes.

Checks run on our servers. We do not keep a list of the addresses you check.

How to use it

  1. Read the live status above. It tests Reddit from outside your network.
  2. Open the official Reddit Status page for confirmed incidents.
  3. If Reddit is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
  4. Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.

Is Reddit down for everyone or only for you?

Reddit's status page tracks the site by surface and by function: Desktop Web, Mobile Web and Native Mobile Apps, plus Vote Processing, Comment Processing, Spam Processing and Modmail. Media storage and general infrastructure are listed separately. So the page can open while comments fail, or images can vanish while text loads.

Our check requests reddit.com and the OAuth API host from outside your network. Reddit often returns an access denied reply to automated requests, which still proves the servers are answering. If your browser shows errors when we do not, look at your cache, extensions and network.

The live check on this page requests www.reddit.com and oauth.reddit.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Reddit works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.

What usually breaks with Reddit

Feeds will not load

The home feed is blank or shows a generic error. Web and native apps are tracked separately, so one can fail while the other works.

Comments and votes do not register

Your comment spins or a vote does not stick. Vote Processing and Comment Processing are their own components.

Images and video missing

Posts load as text with broken thumbnails. Media storage is a separate component.

Modmail and moderation tools

Moderators cannot open Modmail or queues load slowly.

Third-party apps and bots

Apps using the API get 429 responses, which means too many requests rather than an outage.

How to fix Reddit when it only fails for you

Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.

  1. Check which component is affected. Open redditstatus.com and look at the specific item, such as Native Mobile Apps or Comment Processing, before changing anything.
  2. Switch between web and app. If the app fails, try reddit.com in a browser. The status page lists Desktop Web, Mobile Web and Native Mobile Apps as distinct.
  3. Log out and back in. Open your profile menu, choose Log Out, then sign in again to refresh a stale session.
  4. Clear the app cache on Android. Open Settings, Apps, Reddit, Storage and choose Clear cache. On iPhone, update or reinstall the app.
  5. Test in a private window. Open reddit.com in an incognito window with extensions off. Ad blockers and enhancement extensions can break the page.
  6. Turn off VPN or proxy. Shared addresses are often rate limited or blocked. Disconnect and reload.
  7. Wait before reposting. If a comment shows an error, check your profile before posting it again to avoid duplicates.
  8. Use another network. Try mobile data instead of Wi-Fi to separate a Reddit issue from your home connection.

If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

Official Reddit status and support

The company itself has the final word on outages. Check Reddit Status for confirmed incidents and use Reddit Help if your account has a problem that is not an outage. We are not affiliated with Reddit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if Reddit is down or if it is just me?

Run the live check above and open redditstatus.com. If neither shows a problem, try a private window and mobile data.

Where can I see official Reddit outages?

Reddit publishes incidents at redditstatus.com, with components for web, apps, voting, comments, spam processing and modmail.

Why does Reddit work logged out but not logged in?

Your session or account data may be the problem. Log out, clear site cookies and sign in again.

Why are images missing while text loads?

Media storage is tracked as its own component, so images can fail separately from the page.

Are comments lost when posting fails?

Not necessarily. Reload the thread before reposting, since a comment can post even when the page shows an error.
