How to use it
- Read the live status above. It tests Notion from outside your network.
- Open the official Notion Status page for confirmed incidents.
- If Notion is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
- Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.
Is Notion down for everyone or only for you?
Notion runs your workspace from its servers. The desktop app, the mobile apps and the web version all load pages from the same back end, while integrations and automations talk to the public API. Each app also keeps local data and cache, so a corrupted cache can break the desktop app while the browser works fine.
Our check requests notion.com and the public API endpoint from outside your network. An unauthorized reply from the API is expected and means it is answering. If both respond, look at Notion's status page, then work through the local fixes below. Notion's help center notes that firewalls, VPNs and security software often cause errors that look like an outage.
The live check on this page requests www.notion.com and api.notion.com from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Notion works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.
What usually breaks with Notion
Offline or Connect to the internet
Notion cannot reach its servers. Your connection is down, or a proxy, firewall, VPN or security tool is blocking it.
Something went wrong
A generic error that Notion links to network filtering, security software or corrupted local data.
Changes not saving
Messages such as Cannot save changes or There was an issue persisting your edits mean your edits did not reach the server.
Images not loading
Images show a broken icon even when you are online. Notion says a VPN is the most common cause.
Integrations and API
Bots and connected tools fail while the app works. The API returns its own codes, such as rate_limited or service_unavailable.
How to fix Notion when it only fails for you
Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.
- Check Notion Status. Open notion-status.com to see whether Notion has reported an incident before you change anything.
- Force reload the desktop app. In the menu bar choose View, then Force reload. On Windows press Alt first if the menu bar is hidden.
- Reset local data. In the desktop app go to Help, Troubleshooting, Reset & Erase All Local Data. This logs you out, so have your login details ready.
- Delete the app data folder. Quit Notion. On Mac delete the Notion folder in Library/Application Support. On Windows delete it in AppData\Roaming. Then reinstall from notion.com/download.
- Clear site data in the browser. In Safari open Preferences, Privacy, Manage Website Data, select Notion and click Remove All. In Firefox click the lock icon and choose Clear Cookies and Site Data.
- Reinstall on mobile. On iPhone or Android, delete the Notion app and install it again. Your pages are stored in your account, not on the phone.
- Turn off VPN and check the network. Disable a VPN, ask IT to allow *.notion.com on managed networks, or try public DNS such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 at home.
- Compare web and desktop. If Notion works in a browser but not in the desktop app, the problem is local to the app. Reset it.
If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.

Official Notion status and support
The company itself has the final word on outages. Check Notion Status for confirmed incidents and use Notion Help Center if your account has a problem that is not an outage. We are not affiliated with Notion.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I see official Notion outages?
Notion publishes incidents at notion-status.com, and its help center links there for live updates on known issues.
Why does Notion work in the browser but not the app?
That points to the desktop app's local data. Use View, Force reload, then Help, Troubleshooting, Reset & Erase All Local Data, and reinstall if needed.
Will resetting Notion delete my pages?
No. Resetting erases local data and logs you out. Your workspace content is stored on Notion's servers and syncs back after you sign in.
My integration fails but Notion works. Is Notion down?
Not always. API errors such as 401 unauthorized or 404 object_not_found usually mean a token or sharing problem. A 503 or 529 points to Notion's side.
Notion is blocked at work or school. What can I do?
Ask your IT team to allow *.notion.com. Notion lists network filtering as a common cause of access errors on managed networks.
