Is Zoom Down?

Zoom will not join a meeting, shows error code 5003 or hangs on connecting? The live check shows whether Zoom answers from outside your network, and the fixes cover the desktop app, mobile and browser.

Checking Zoom…

Reading the latest result from our servers.

We test zoom.us and api.zoom.us from our servers. This shows whether the public addresses answer, not what happens inside the app.

Tell us if Zoom does not work for you. One report per visitor every 10 minutes.

Checks run on our servers. We do not keep a list of the addresses you check.

How to use it

  1. Read the live status above. It tests Zoom from outside your network.
  2. Open the official Zoom Status page for confirmed incidents.
  3. If Zoom is up, work through the fixes below, cheapest first.
  4. Press the report button if it still fails, so other visitors see it.

Is Zoom down for everyone or only for you?

Zoom is split into many services. Zoom's own status page lists Meetings, Webinars, Phone, Rooms, Chat, Cloud Recording, Zoom Events and a Developer Platform as separate components, and Phone is split by region. That is why a meeting can run while the recordings are delayed.

Our check requests the Zoom website and its API host from outside your network. If both answer, the platform is reachable. Error code 5003, according to Zoom, means something blocks the connection between your device and Zoom's servers, which usually means a firewall, proxy, antivirus or network setting.

The live check on this page requests zoom.us and api.zoom.us from our servers every few minutes. A normal answer from those addresses means the service is reachable from outside your network. It does not prove that every feature inside Zoom works, which is why the problem reports and the fixes below matter.

What usually breaks with Zoom

Joining a meeting

The link does nothing, the meeting ID is rejected or the app hangs. Zoom's join guide starts with entering the ID and passcode by hand.

Connection to Zoom's servers

Error code 5003 appears on the desktop app. A firewall, proxy or antivirus is the common cause.

Sign-in and access

You see Please log in with a commercial Zoom account to join. The host requires authentication for this meeting.

Waiting for the host

Join before host settings can leave you in a waiting state until the host arrives.

Camera and audio

Video or sound fails inside a meeting while the connection is fine. Zoom has a separate camera troubleshooting guide.

How to fix Zoom when it only fails for you

Start at the top. The first steps are the cheapest and fix most cases that are not a real outage.

  1. Join manually. On Windows or Mac open the Home tab, click Join, enter the meeting ID, then the passcode. On Android and iOS go to the Meeting tab, tap Join and enter both.
  2. Try a different browser. If joining from the link fails, test another browser.
  3. Reinstall with CleanZoom. Zoom suggests running CleanZoom to remove the desktop app completely, then installing the newest version from the Zoom Download Center.
  4. Ask the host to confirm the ID. If you see that the meeting ID is invalid, ask the host for the right ID, especially for recurring meetings.
  5. Check firewall and proxy. For error 5003, ask your network administrator to review the firewall and proxy settings.
  6. Pause antivirus briefly. Zoom says antivirus can block the connection. Turn it off for a test, then turn it back on.
  7. Ask your provider. If it fails on every device, ask your internet provider whether it can reach Zoom.
  8. Check zoomstatus.com. Look at Zoom Meetings in the list of components. Choose the one that matches what you are using, such as Phone for Zoom Phone.

If none of this helps and the live check above shows the service as up, read our guide on why a website is not loading, or see how to flush DNS.
